OBJECTIVES

GOAL

Our Goal is to scale up current interventions and consolidate achievements in order to reach the malaria pre-elimination phase in Rwanda by 2012.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

-At least 90% of all children under 5 years suffering from malaria will receive timely, correct and affordable treatment within 24 hours after the onset of typical symptoms

-At least 90% of all cases of simple malaria in the health facilities will be treated in accordance with the national treatment policy

-At least 90% of all cases of simple malaria with minor digestives symptoms in the health facilities will be treated in accordance with the national treatment policy

-At least 85% of breeding sites in targeted areas will be treated by larvicide according to the national vector control guidelines

-At least 90% of houses in targeted areas will be sprayed in the past 6 months (depend of insecticide remanance)

-At least 80% of the population knows the transmission of malaria

-At least 80% of the population knows preventive measures and treatment of malaria

-All malaria epidemics are detected within 1 week

-At least 90% of malaria epidemics will be controlled within the 2 weeks following their commencement

-To reduce by 80% proportion of mosquito-vectors  resting inside the house

-To reduce vector larva density by 80% in treated breeding sites

-At least 80% of the population knows the transmission of malaria

-At least 80% of the population knows preventive measures and treatment of malaria

-20.80% of targeted health workers are trained in malaria prevention and control

-All health facilities have microscopes and trained technicians for malaria diagnosis  and other diagnostic tools according to the national policy

-All CHWs in HBM are trained and use diagnostic tools according to the national policy
